Wyrd & Wonder: Can’t Wait to Read

Perfectly in character, I am posting this a day late–oops!

The prompt for May 8th is to discuss a book or books that you cannot wait to read. Of course, as I recently counted all of the unread books on my shelf (literally, just the ones I own), I have 70. 70 unread books. That I own. That does not even begin to encompass the books that are on my TBR from the library, or on books I have not even bought yet. My god.

Well, all of that being said, these are the top five books that I cannot wait to get to!

1. The Mistborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson — Okay, yes this is technically three books, but my post my rules. I recently purchased these three books in the beautiful UK paperbacks. I have wanted to read these books for so, so, so long. Now that I finally own them, every time I see them I feel butterflies in my chest from excitement. Too cheesy? Oh well.

2. Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin — As someone who loves fantasy, it hurts my heart that I haven’t read the Song of Ice and Fire series yet. I own all of the books that are out, and a box set of the TV show. Have I read or watched any? Nope. Am I dying to join in on the hype? You bet.

3. IT by Stephen King — I am reading all of Stephen King’s works in order of publication, as a little challenge to myself, and because King is one of my all-time favourite authors. I have had IT for quite some time now, but because I am not quite there in terms of reading his books, I still have a little while to go before I can finally open it up… However, I miiiiight just cheat my own game and read it anyways before the second movie comes out!!

4. The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss — Oh, you bet this is on the list. I have had this book for years and have always been way too intimidated to pick it up. I don’t know why. Maybe it is because I am afraid of the hype, or maybe I’m waiting for the perfect time to read it. I have no idea. But overall, I neeeeeeeeddddd to get to it. This summer. I will do it. And if I don’t, someone come and hit me. Please.

Well, I have got some LARGE books I need to get to soon. Wish me luck, please, and hurt me if I don’t finish these by the end of the year, I’m serious.

What are some of the books you can’t wait to read? Are they new releases? Or ones you’ve had on your shelf for forever, like me? Let me know!

  1. The Name of the Wind is on my list too but after having to wait so long with ASOIAF I think I’ll wait until the third one is finally released haha.
    Also don’t feel too bad about your 70. I have 250+ 😉

  2. You’ve saved up all the doorstops 😀 But total Wyrd and Wonder bookwyrm solidarity: I’m not counting my unread books, I’m just waiting for them to mug me one night on my way past the bookshelf.
